The Government of Uttarakhand established Uttarakhand Ayurved University in 2009 to provide effective and systematic ayurvedic education, training, research, and development. After Uttar Pradesh became Uttarakhand, the state government has worked to improve socioeconomic conditions in this backward state with difficult geography. Despite its economic backwardness, the state is rich in flora and fauna, especially high-altitude medicinal plants and herbs. Economic and scientific use of such diverse resources may lead to radical economic growth for local people. With this in mind, the state government has taken several steps in this direction, and the state's first Ayurved University is a major step in the internationally acclaimed field.
