About the School

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Masaria Dam, Gumla is a co-educational residential school and a wing of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, under Ministry of Education, school Education and literacy Govt. of India, established in the 1986. It is situated in the scenic beauty of hills surrounded with three sides, Belagarha villlage in other side. In the North-east corner there is a large water body called as a Masaria Dam enhance the beauty of the school with a Hanuman Mandir adjoining to school boundary. The school is away from National Highway and district Headquarter which is 30 kms away. It is one of the hard and difficult school in Jharkhand. The Vidyalaya having 35 acres of land with rocky land around 4 acres one play ground , 02 Volley Ball courtst, 02 basket ball courts, 03 badminton courts, 02 kho-kho grounds, 2 kabaddi grounds, 08 dormitories for boys, 04 dormitories for girls, 02 dining halls alongwith kitchen, one academic block, 04 Laboratories, 01 Smart Class and 01 Museum Corner, 01 computer lab and the rest of land is full of plants and trees with rose garden and other shrubs and herbs. Most of the students admitted in this school are from rural areas, predominantly from first generation learner family. At present the school is a full fledged school having 561 students comprising 313 boys and 248 girls students. The major part of students population belongs to SC and ST categories having 324 STs and 88 SCs, totalling 412 students and 108 OBCs students. Altogether the major population consist of 520 students are unprivileged community. However, It finds a perfect natural phenomenon with hills, plants, trees and a streamlet.
