About the School

Need for an educational institution was felt by Mr Rajinder Gupta the Managing Director Abhishek Industries (Trident Group). He felt that development and change in this town was only possible with the help of education and thus he was determined to change his vision into reality. For transforming his vision into reality the first step he took was contact the Bethany Management and thus began a beautiful journey of change and development of values and modern education. Sacred Heart Convent School saw its beginning under the leadership of Sr. Nora, the Provincial Superior and Sr Chantal was the Founder Principal with Sr Cedra, Sr Immaculate and Sr Luciana Abraham as the team members. The first school was started in a rented building arranged by Mr Rajinder Gupta at Bazakhana Road and 18 May 2002 was chosen as the day to mark the launching of the school. Most Rev Dr Gerald Mathias, the Bishop of Shimla-Chandigarh Diocese, blessed the temporary school building. The school officially functioned from 8 July 2002 with 86 students on roll from LKG to Std. III. Sacred Heart had already made a mark within the year. Two more buildings were hired in order to accommodate the increasing number of students. The need was now felt intensely to have a school with proper playground and facilities for all round development of the children of Barnala. So, 10 acres of land was purchased for the school on Raikot Road.
