An act (No. 25 of 2004) of legislature passed by the Chhattisgarh State Govt. Assembly vide notification no. 639/21-A/Praroopan/04 dt 21st January 2005 established Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) to ensure systematic, efficient, and quality education in engineering and technological subjects, including Architecture and Pharmacy, at Research, Postgraduate, Degree, and Diploma levels. Since 2005, the University has worked to become one of the nation's top universities to fulfil its commitment to state and nation. Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurated it on 30 April 2005. The University began identifying frontier research and outreach programmes for society without waiting for full infrastructure development. Over the past five years, the University has held academic programmes, seminars, workshops, and conferences using this approach. The Redefining Technical Education scheme of teaching, learning, and syllabus was designed and implemented through brainstorming sessions, taskforces, group work, and workshops to improve education standards and equip students with professional skills. The University's soft skills curriculum is well-received. Communication, group discussion, human values, health hygiene, yoga, personality development, entrepreneurship, and project-based learning are taught. The University's permanent campus covers 250 acres in Bhilai, one of India's top education hubs. The University building and related facilities are being built after land acquisition. University Administrative Building is finished. The University has 44 Engineering Colleges, 1 Architecture College, 40 Polytechnics, and 11 Pharmacy Colleges. Over the last few years, the university has implemented a digital evaluation system that publishes results ahead of schedule, increasing teaching and student interaction time. On December 30, 2011, the World Management Congress, Higher Education and Development Summit, awarded the university "Emerging Technological University of the Year Award" for its reforms. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister's happiness has added another dimension to the University's visibility in the current challenging educational standards environment.
