As part of a historic initiative by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to strengthen higher education, Krantisurya Tantya Bhil University (KTBU) has been established in Khargone district under the Madhya Pradesh University Act, 1973. This university has been set up in memory of the great public leader, social worker, and freedom fighter Tantya Mama. The university is providing new opportunities for higher education to the youth of the Nimar region and is directly benefiting approximately 35,000 students from the districts of Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, and Alirajpur. Krantisurya Tantya Bhil University has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, which has further strengthened its academic and legal status. Currently, the university has affiliation with 80 colleges that are offering various undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
